Like Xylitol, Erythritol is a polyol, but it has fewer calories, 0.24 calories per gram in particular. In addition, it also tastes very similar to sugar so it is very easy to substitute and does not affect sugar levels. It can be found naturally in fruit (strawberries, pears, melon and grapes) and can be extracted from mushrooms and corn. The downside of this option is that it is a rather expensive sweetener, as the kilo usually costs between 7 and 10 euros.
